Florida Geriatrics Society - Advancing Geriatric Care in Florida Since 1989
The FGS was founded in 1989, as an organization to provide those healthcare professionals interested in caring for the older residents of Florida, a network to share, mentor, and collaborate on updates, best practices, regulatory issues and other areas affecting their professional needs in caring for the elderly in Florida.
The Florida Geriatrics Society (FGS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit membership-based organization run by an all-volunteer Board of Directors and managed by an Executive Director. Our members represent an array of healthcare professionals including, MD's, DO's, DNP's, APRN's, PharmD's, RN's, PA's, LCSW's to name a few. Our members come from an variety of different healthcare providers including independent or private practices, hospitals, group practices, Veteran's Administration Healthcare facilities, University and State Higher Education Healthcare facilities, academia centers and long-term care facilities from across the state and region.
Our Board of Directors and Interprofessional Sections/Council members serve a term of two (2) years during which time they are involved with bringing numerous opportunities for our members to participate in committee and advocacy work, along with educational, mentoring or networking events, including our annual educational symposium.
